How to get to Camp5 Eco City
Camp5 Eco City is located in KL Eco City Mall. You may refer to the Waze or Google Maps directions to get to the mall.
You can also park at Mid Valley/The Gardens Mall and take the interconnecting bridge from The Gardens Mall (Level 1, at the Isetan end, follow LRT sign). It’ll be a brief 3 minutes walk.
Once you’re in KL Eco City Mall, head up to Level 4 and you’ll find the gym a short walk away. The floor is kind of empty, do ask around for directions if you get lost. (We did our first time!)
Operating Hours
The gym is open 10am to 10pm on weekdays, and 10am to 8pm on weekends.
Review: Environment, Climbing Walls and Routesetting
1. Environment
In comparison to other gyms in KL, this gym is extremely spacious so there’s plenty of area to explore. It is air-conditioned, and has direct sunlight at most parts of the gym during the day. The inner areas that don’t have direct access to windows are still well-lit. From our visits the gym is always maintained dry and clean.
2. Climbing Walls
Whether you are coming for a boulder or top-rope session, this gym has got you covered. Here are some photos we got:
The boulder area consists of a huge “island” of vertical, overhang, and slab problems, including a mini cave section. Walk further into the gym and you’ll find another boulder section tucked behind the top-rope walls.
If you’re going for a top-rope session, bring a belay buddy or use their auto-belay systems.
A spray wall and moonboards are available as well.
Lastly, a kid-friendly section for mini boulders!
3. Route setting
The routes are changed on a monthly basis and you can check their Instagram for the latest route updates.
Camp5 grading system
For roped climbing, Camp5 uses the French Sport Grade System, ranging from 5a to 8a+.
For bouldering, Camp5 uses the V-grade, ranging from VB to V8+.

FAQ for first timers
1. What do I have to bring?
Go in comfortable active attire, bring along a bottle, a change of clothes (it gets chalky!), and a pair of socks if you’re renting shoes.
2. How long should I expect to spend in the gym?
We recommend you to set aside 2-3 hours. That will leave you ample time to explore the gym, attempt challenging problems, and most importantly to rest between your attempts!
3. Any tips if I haven’t climbed before?
Keep your arms straight when you climb, get comfortable with falling, land safely, keep an open mind, and don’t be shy to ask for help! People at BUMP are friendly 🙂
4. Are there any pre-requisites of climbing?
To attempt roped climbing, you will need to be a certified climber. If you’re not one, Camp5 covers this in one of their courses here.
5. What other climbing gyms are there in Kuala Lumpur?
