How to get to BUMP Bouldering Jaya One

BUMP Bouldering Jaya One is located in Jaya One mall. You may refer to our parking directions, guide and rates for Jaya One to get to the mall.

Once you’re in the mall, make your way towards The School and get up to Level 1. It’s right next to the bridge that connects to The Square. If you’re confused by the directions, we like to go to Tedboy first to take the escalator right next to it. Once you reach Level 1, the gym will be on your left.

Operating Hours

The gym is open from 12pm to 10pm on weekdays, and 9am to 7pm on weekends and public holidays.

Review: Environment, Climbing Walls and Routesetting

1. Environment

BUMP Bouldering Jaya One is well lit and fully air-conditioned. They’ve also went through a one-month renovation since we last took some photos, so the condition of the walls and mats are much cleaner and sturdier from the photos you will see below (We’ll try to get the updated photos soon!).

2. Climbing Walls

There is a good mix of vertical, overhang, and slab walls that gives a good challenge for climbers of all levels. There is also a MoonBoard at the gym.

3. Route setting

The routes are changed on a monthly basis and you can check their Instagram for the latest route updates.

Grading System

Bump uses a dot-grading system and have 13 different grades, with 1 dot being the easiest grade, up to 12 dots. The 13th grade is an Alien grade that represents the hardest grades!

Facilities and Amentities

Lockers

The lockers are currently in the respective gendered toilets. However, there are plenty of shelf space in various sections of the gym for your belongings. We’ve never had issues with leaving our bags in the open shelves, however, do keep your personal belongings safe at your own risk.

There is a decently sized gym at BUMP Bouldering Jaya One. Not only that it has the typical weightlifting equipment, it also has fingerboards and a monkey bar. This definitely has more than enough equipment to get a good training session in.

FAQ for first timers

1. What do I have to bring?

Go in comfortable active attire, bring along a bottle, a change of clothes (it gets chalky!), and a pair of socks if you’re renting shoes.

2. How long should I expect to spend in the gym?

We recommend you to set aside 2-3 hours. That will leave you ample time to explore the gym, attempt challenging problems, and most importantly to rest between your attempts!

3. Any tips if I haven’t climbed before?

Keep your arms straight when you climb, get comfortable with falling, land safely, keep an open mind, and don’t be shy to ask for help! People at BUMP are friendly 🙂

3. What are some other nearby bouldering gyms?

You can check out B-Hub Bouldering Petaling Jaya, BUMP Bouldering at Pavilion Bukit Jalil or Camp5 at KL Eco City.
