How to get to B Hub Bouldering

B-Hub Bouldering

B-Hub Bouldering is located in the factory/production/workshops area of Petaling Jaya, with its walls built within a warehouse facility. Unfortunately this means parking may not be as accessible, as upon enquiry, the parking spots within the gates of the facility were limited and for female drivers only.

We parked on the roadside which they labelled the “Designated parking area” on their Instagram. We went early on a weekend so the parking lots were empty, however, if you’re climbing alone at night or early mornings, do make sure you’re not alone as the streets can be quite quiet.

The facility is located next to Carsome, and here are the Waze directions to get to B-Hub: https://waze.com/ul/hw2838sqh4

Operating Hours

The gym is open from 11am to 11pm on weekdays, and 9am to 8pm on weekends and public holidays.

Review: Environment, Climbing Walls and Routesetting

1. Environment

From our visit, the facility was bright, clean, and well ventilated. The overall ambience was welcoming and friendly, with scents of coffee and pressed sandwiches at the entrance of the gym.

2. Climbing Walls

There is a good mix of vertical, overhang, and slab walls that gives a good challenge for climbers of all levels. There is also a MoonBoard and Kilter Board at the gym.

We find that B-Hub likes to use big holds, and they implement a very good use of volumes that we don’t usually encounter in other gyms in KL. The movements are also usually bigger, so it’s a good place to learn how to commit!

3. Route setting

The routes are changed on a regular basis and you can check their Instagram for the latest route updates.

Grading System

B-Hub uses a number grading system from 1 (vB) to Beast tag (v9+). They also occasionally throw in a wild card for a surprise grade

There are no lockable lockers but shelves to place your items. We feel that with the bouldering community your items are generally safe but it’s always best to carry your important belongings with you!

There is a gym available with a squat rack, barbell, dumbbells, and fingerboards – enough to get a proper workout in. It also has an area for functional stretches and movements.

FAQ for first timers

1. What do I have to bring?

Go in comfortable active attire, bring along a bottle, a change of clothes (it gets chalky!), and a pair of socks if you’re renting shoes.

2. How long should I expect to spend in the gym?

We recommend you to set aside 2-3 hours. That will leave you ample time to explore the gym, attempt challenging problems, and most importantly to rest between your attempts!

3. Any tips if I haven’t climbed before?

Keep your arms straight when you climb, get comfortable with falling, land safely, keep an open mind, and don’t be shy to ask for help! People at BUMP are friendly 🙂

4. What are some other nearby bouldering gyms?

You can check out BUMP Bouldering at Jaya One, BUMP Bouldering at Pavilion Bukit Jalil or Camp5 at KL Eco City.
